St Canice's School

Enrolments

Enrolment:

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of our school community. St Canice’s School is a State Integrated Catholic school. We provide quality primary and intermediate education for children in Years 1 to 8.

Enrolment at St Canice’s is available to any student whose family can meet one or more of five eligibility criteria for enrolment in a Catholic School. These criteria establish a child’s connection with the Church and the wish of their family to have their child taught within the environment and ethos of our Catholic Special Character. We have a limited number of non-preference places available at school for students who do not meet the eligibility criteria, and we encourage you to contact the school office to discuss enrolments options.

Confirmed Enrolment:

When the student’s enrolment is confirmed copies of the following need to be supplied:

– Birth Certificate
– Immunisation Certificate
– Student’s passport if born in a country other than NZ
– Parent’s passport if in NZ on a work permit

Attendance Dues:

As part of being a state integrated school, compulsory Attendance Dues are charged by the Archdiocese of Wellington. This is payable directly to the proprietors who own and manage our property. These Dues are used for the upkeep, renovation and insurances associated with our buildings and property. Payment options will be discussed in more detail upon confirmation of enrolment.

The five eligibility criteria are:

1: The child has been baptised or is being prepared for baptism in the Catholic Church.

2: The child’s parents/guardians have already allowed one or more of its siblings to be baptised in the Catholic faith.

3: At least one parent/guardian is a Catholic, and although their child has not yet been baptised, the child’s participation in the life of the school could lead to the parents having the child baptised.

4: With the agreement of the child’s parent/guardian, a grandparent or other significant adult in the child’s life, such as an aunt, uncle or godparent, undertakes to support the child’s formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church.

5: One or both of a child’s non-Catholic parents/guardians is preparing to become a Catholic.

Once granted the preference of enrolment form will be completed and counter-signed by the Parish Priest of the St Canice’s Parish. Parents or Caregivers wishing to enrol their children at St Canice’s School can obtain an  Enrolment Form from the school office or download a form and return it to the school.
